Brazil's Globo newspaper reported that a Google Brazil survey of dolls, games, cards, and various other types of toys showed that Barbie is a very popular toy among many Brazilians, accounting for 12.8% of all toys sold.
Lego is also a favorite toy for most Brazilians, with 8.9% of the population saying they would choose Lego as a gift for someone else; 7.3% of Brazilians would choose to buy the character dolls from HITMAN REBORN; and 3% of the population thought the nerf soft-tip toy gun was a very interesting toy.
Google researchers noted that Brazilians' willingness to spend is returning. "On average, each Brazilian consumer will buy four to five gifts, and for 103.83 Black Ou for one gift, the total value of gifts purchased per Brazilian consumer will reach 461.91 Black Ou, down slightly from 465.59 Black Ou last year," said Roque Pellizzaro Junior, president of the Brazilian Credit Protection Service (SPC Brasil).
The surveyors also showed that although toys are the focus of Christmas gift shopping for the Brazilian public, parents still need to be aware that certain toys can cause harm to their children.
"We should be careful when shopping for toys to avoid those with sharp edges or small parts because sharp edges can cut children, and children can accidentally swallow small parts with serious consequences."
